ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE IN KOLLAM ASHTAMUDI LAKE

A part of the Kerala backwaters, Ashtamudi is the second largest lake in the state. Ashtamudi wetland is an estuary and the lake forms a major geomorphological feature of the Kollam town. It is a major tourist attraction and houseboats are a big draw. But they are also a major source of pollution because they release waste directly into the lake, says Prasanna Earnest, former mayor of Kollam. Apart from that, oil spillage from motor boats is affecting fish population, says Karim. According to a 2007 study by the University of Agriculture Science, Bengaluru, the lake has an annual economy of over Rs 1,900 crore, with 87 per cent of it coming from fisheries. Around 3,000 fisherfolk depend on the lake for their catch.

Today it was the last day of our II phase teaching practice , as usual I reached the school at 9.30 am ,there was a special assembly where the Headmaster congratulated  on our efforts in maintaining the discipline of the schools and the contribution made by us.

We all teacher trainees thanked the whole members in the institution and gave a simple treat for students as well as teachers.

REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE

This was the IX week of the teaching practice. This week we got all the five days of working . I continued taking my rest of the lesson templates and was able to complete 2 lesson templates and the 30 of them  all-together.

CURRICULAR ACTIVITY

On 08/01/18 Monday, For the second hour I had my IX standard where I was able to finish all the portions for the board examination this year which is scheduled to be commencing in March. After this I got a substitution period at the IX standard where I was able to take my thirtieth lesson template which was based on human skelton system.

On 09/01/18 Tuesday, Today I had  my first period at the IX standard where I continued taking some of the important portions and also made them do the activities .For the third hour I had the VIII standard where I took some of the portions which were sure to be asked in the examinations.

On 10/01/18 Wednesday, Today I had my IX standard for the fifth hour where I continued with some of the important portions .After that sixth period I had my VIII standard where I continued with the same chapter and also gave them some notes regarding it.

On 11/01/18 Thursday , Today I had my first hour at the VIII standard where I was able to complete the chapter. Then for the fourth hour I had my IX standard where I was able to conduct the 'Achievement Test' for them which lasted for around 2 hours.

On 12/01/18 Friday ,Today I had no regular classes.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:

We had a Dry Day conduction where the teachers along with students cleaned all the rooms and surroundings clean.

REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE

This was the VIII week of the teaching practice. This week we got only the four days of  working as Tuesday was a public holiday. I continued taking my rest of the lesson templates and was able to complete 29 lesson templates all-together.

CURRICULAR ACTIVITY

On 01/01/18 Monday, I had my period only after lunch I was busy in helping Anuraj Sir to arranging the answer sheets.After lunch break there were no classes alloted to me.

On 03/01/18 Wednesday, For the second period I had my VIII standard where I gave them some notes of the topic.After the lunch break I had my sixth hour at the VIII standard where I continued the chapter and took the 27th lesson plan in BRAIN STORMING TECHNIQUE.We were also surprised to see our Principal Shri. Bramanandan who also did the class observation and also checked all our records.

On 04/01/2018 Thursday,For the fifth hour I had my XI standard where I continued with the chapter and also gave them some notes and i took a class based on muscle contraction with the help of ICT AID.The next hour was also allotted to me and i took the chapter of muscle fatigue in 9th standard.

On 05/01/2018 Friday, today i don't have regular classes.

This week was good for me at school because I felt that my lessons were going well and my decision to get placed in this school was the correct one.The students were very well able to grasp everything and I was able to convey the concept clearer .

Suggestion made by the teacher educator

·         Development of Lesson was improved a lot

·         Explained well and more content

·         Black board writing was there

·         Learning Aids were prepared well

·         Eye contact were there

·         Good development of lesson and class management.

·         Sound modulation improved.

·         Assessment and evaluation good.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:

In this week the students were given more time to practice for the youth festival .Our students were really practicing very hard to  get got grades and trophies in the youth festival.The final list of students participating was uploaded and the programmes to be conducted at our school was known.We also had a Dry Day conduction where the teachers along with students cleaned all the rooms and surroundings clean .
